On November 29, at the 14th International Scientific Conference titled “Caucasus in the New World Order” held in Rzeszów, Poland, three researchers from the Institute of History and Ethnology of ANAS presented their papers.
Gunel Musayeva, in her presentation titled “Azerbaijan’s Energy Policy Amid New Regional Dynamics” analyzed how Azerbaijan is strengthening its role in Europe’s energy security by combining stable natural gas supplies with the rapid development of renewable energy and major international projects, including emerging “green” energy corridors to Europe. She emphasized that after restoring its territorial integrity, Azerbaijan has pursued a more independent and balanced foreign policy based on sovereignty and diversified partnerships.
Gasim Hajiyev, in his report “The Problem of Studying the Ancient History of the South Caucasus,” highlighted that the Caucasus is one of the world’s earliest centers of civilization, where numerous tribes and states existed over millennia. Archaeological findings confirm the antiquity of this region. He also addressed the falsifications made during the Soviet period regarding the history of Caucasian peoples, particularly Turkic populations, and stressed the importance of objectively re-examining the history of the Caucasus today.
Nigar Akhundova, in her paper “A New Stage in the Development of Culture and the Strengthening of Moral Values in the Republic of Azerbaijan,” discussed Azerbaijan’s cultural policy aimed at protecting and promoting the country’s intangible cultural heritage, preventing the appropriation of Azerbaijani cultural assets, and implementing laws, concepts, and international initiatives to develop and popularize national culture. She also highlighted major cultural projects and conferences organized to enhance international cooperation and strengthen the cultural standing of the country.
During the conference, attempts by some presenters from Armenia to spread misinformation and provocations against Azerbaijan were effectively countered, and well-founded, scholarly responses were provided.
